Rain, rain go away…

After what turned out to be a very pleasant day yesterday, we're back to freezing cold rain here in London today. And I'm not amused. I walked into the office, quickly realising an umbrella would be useless in the face of the winds screaming towards me down the Thames path. Apparently, I wasn't alone - ...

Healthy? Or just plain stubborn.

Like the rest of London - and most of the South East of the UK - I woke up this morning to face some pretty unseasonal weather. Lashing rain, howling wind and temperatures that raised even my jaded eyebrows. As I wrote last time, I've been trying to keep up a habit of walking to ...

Tokyo: this isn’t the weather I ordered!

I arrive in Tokyo first thing next Tuesday morning for a holiday with my nephew. While I'm as excited as a toddler at Christmas at the prospect of being back in Japan, a quick look at the long range forecast just now was a bit of a downer. I knew it was going to be ...

Go home, weather. You’re drunk.

Seriously? It's 31st October and it's 21C and sunny in Central London. Whaaaa? Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I checked the weather before I left home and wasn't caught out. I also managed to fit in two lovely long walks in the sun between meetings. From More London, across Tower Bridge and up ...

Bracing myself for London

As I sit here in the "Sala VIP" (big words, which Palma airport is doing its best to misrepresent) I'm bracing myself for a return to London and its very un-Summery weather. While Mallorca hasn't been weather paradise, it has at least been consistently warm for the last week. I've realised what a luxury it ...

Still freezing, but…

...at least the sun is back! Where was it? Who stole it? I blame the North Koreans. Anyway, the reappearance of our nearest star has cheered me up no end. After a full-on week of work which included a tiring trip to Strasbourg and two-day conference, I'm launching myself into a four day Easter weekend ...

A snow update

Yes, it's snowing here in Wapping. But not terribly heavily and quite half-heartedly. Most pleasingly, my meeting down at Gatwick has been postponed, so I have absolutely no need to brave the elements and deal with the shambolic train service. Time to stay indoors, keep warm and stay productive. And enjoy the "End of Days" ...

Batten down the hatches

There's some snow on the way. And by "some", I mean an inch or so. But in London and South-East of England, an inch of snow is the closest we come to armageddon and the complete breakdown of society. There are posters up in tube stations warning of the approaching snow and its inevitable impact ...

So very cold

Good morning from a very chilly London. I'm happy to be working from home this morning and not battling with public transport and hiking into the wild of Oxfordshire like yesterday. It's "Operation Fill Yourself With Coffee" right now... and hoping London avoids any snow. We had a few flakes yesterday and it was hellish. ...
