Not long now…

...until I have to complete the London Triathlon. I haven't mentioned this dreaded event on the blog yet as I'm still slightly in shock at the fact I signed up for it in the first place. My motivation? A typically male combination of pig-headedness, denial and a third drive which I refer to as "I'll ...

Newness from Palm…

I've been trawling the internets since yesterday's product annoucement from Palm. Their new handset, the Pre, looks great. I have to admit, if I didn't have an iPhone, I'd seriously consider getting one. Some lovely pics of the interface here - it looks very smooth and... Apple-like? That's a compliment, believe me. I'm suitably impressed ...

Macworld Keynote? Meh…

I was left thoroughly underwhelmed by yesterday's Macworld keynote address by Phil Schiller. Engadget called it a "Show of no-shows". It was't Phil's presentation, by the way - he gave an excellent performance and I didn't really miss Steve Jobs (am I even alowed to think that? Never mind commit it to the internets??) . ...

Can we move on now, please?

Steve Jobs has finally responded to all of the rumour and gossip about his health and put out a press release clarifying the situation. I find this depressing on a couple of levels. One, the fact that a single human being's health has been so inextricably linked to the success of a complex and multi-talented ...

CNN’s thoughts on Macworld…

CNN have posted what they view as the Top 10 Macworld rumours. Nothing I have't read elsewhere, and to be honest, if you list 10 or so predictions, you enhance your chances of being proved right on the day. Maybe I should list my own Top 100 rumours? I'm particularly excited about the prospect of ...

Thought for the (religious?) Day

Sue Blackmore makes an excellent point in the Guardian's "Comment is Free" - something I've thought about a lot over the past couple of years. Every morning, BBC Radio 4's Today Programme broadcasts a brief "Thought for the Day" slot. A couple of minutes where a religious thinker - priest, vicar, rabbi, imam - reflects ...

Another Macworld Rumour…

ZDNet is also talking about the potential for Apple to turn iWork into a suite of web applications. However, rather than invest a lot of effort into making changes to the existing iWork suite, they may just tie in the service with Google: If Apple re-brands Google Docs and Spreadsheets (Eric Schmidt is on the ...

Horror of horrors…

...the latest barrage of muck and nonsense commonly known as Celebrity Big Brother kicks off this evening (in about 5 minutes, in fact). Let me state at this early juncture that I despise reality shows of all persuasions... Big Brother, I'm a Celebrity, Strictly Come Dancing, X Factor... the lot of them. Crap. Rubbish. Drivel. ...

Norse God versus Burglar…

...it's only going to end one way, right? The Telegraph is reporting a burglar in Edinburgh was scared off when he encountered the home-owner dressed as Thor, the Norse God of thunder. Six-foot tall Torvald Alexander, 38, was wearing a red cape and the thunder god's silver-winged helmet when he spotted the raider in his ...
