Wow – six years since I was doctored!

I got reminded by Google Photos this week that it’s been six years since I was doctored. Since my doctoral graduation, that is!

All I can say is, it’s been an extremely fast six years. I’ve almost put the trauma behind me – of studying for a doctorate in psychology while working full time as a consultant. I don’t think I could face something like that again and am so pleased to have weekends back for fun and brunch.

Still, I’m glad I did it. I managed to scratch that academic research itch I had about work-life balance (irony alert!) and demonstrate to myself that I could just keep going at something over five years if I tried.

I’m not sure I managed to successfully pull off the crazy graduation robes, however. Thankfully, it was a one-time only experience and I managed to get out of the O2 venue quickly enough, to head back to Canary Wharf for a slap-up lunch with my parents and @TheFrankFlyer at Boisdale, celebrating with haggis and champagne. A very under-rated combination, in my humble opinion.

I’m so glad I use Google photos. I wouldn’t have remembered this at all without it.

  1. Congratulations on your anniversary! 🙂 Naked hugs!

  2. One of my friends graduated a few years ago, and wore similar robes – here’s the question though – what do you do with them after ? It’s not like you can really use them again, is it ?

    • Nope. You just rent them for a couple of hours and I’d never need them again unless I was an academic and regularly attending graduation ceremonies. That, or Halloween?

  3. That’s some fancy haggis.

  4. Your definitely a hat person!
