Star Trek: Discovery renewed for a second season!

Excellent news, fellow geeks: Star Trek: Discovery has been confirmed for a second season. That nagging doubt at the back of my mind that we would only get one season – for any number of reasons – has evaporated, and I can enjoy the show more than ever.

Just in time, too, as last night’s episode was a cracker. (Minor spoilers follow)

The captain continues to unravel, Michael’s backstory continues to unfold and the general maturity of the storylines continues to impress.

Seriously – this is the best Trek I’ve enjoyed in years. Please don’t inundate me with hate-filled comments about TNG and TOS, they’re each good in their own ways. But Discovery is doing it for me right now and I can’t wait to see how we learn more about why Lorca is acting so strangely.

(Could it have something to do with a certain mirror universe…?)

And what about the new Security Chief? He’s either a massive red herring story-wise, or they’re playing the long game with this one. Either way, it’s going to be interesting to see how his pans out.

  1. Huzzah! I actually missed last night’s so I’ll see it this evening.

  3. I’m enjoying this series for the very first time! (No I never saw Star Trek before and yes I failed the geek test). We’ve also been watching The Orville, and discovered that actually Star Trek has more legit comedy than the “comedy” spoof!

    1. I have to admit I gave up on The Orville after one episode. It was too painful to watch.
