Here comes Spider-Man (again)

The first trailer for the new Spider-man film has finally been released and it’s a doozie! If you’ve seen Captain America: Civil War, you’ll know it (spoiler alert!) featured a certain Peter Parker in a cameo role.

It looks like Spider-Man: Homecoming picks up after that, as the trailer features the ever-suave Tony Stark (a.k.a. Iron Man) who seems to have adopted a kind of mentor role for Peter. I think it’s a nice overlap with the rest of the Marvel cinematic universe and will make sense to people who saw Spider-Man’s last outing.

More good news: it doesn’t look like an origin movie, so we don’t have to watch another poor elderly actor get gunned down in the street due to Peter’s negligence.

(Yes, Spider-Man’s origin includes the death of a loved one. Maybe he and Batman should start a support group or something…)

Here, Spider-Man is still at school and facing that familiar challenge of protecting his secret identity while balancing the demands of schoolwork and battling super-powered villains. Which makes for fun, fun, fun.

I hope.

Tom Holland was super-excellent in Civil War and it looks like we’re getting Michael Keaton as ‘The Vulture’, so I have high hopes for Homecoming. Could this be the Spider-Man movies his fans have been waiting on for so long?

  1. I’m also glad it’s an origin story again 🙂 I also agree that Holland was excellent in Civil War! I feel the trailer didn’t do Keaton justice as he’s an exceptional actor, but I guess we’ll see that in the actual film.

    • I’m glad it’s a teaser as I hate it when films give away too much plot in the trailers. Though I expect rumours and future leaks will contribute to that!
