Food & Drink

Top tip for nosebag: Jackson & Rye

@FrankDJS and I popped into town for dinner with a friend last night and, after drinks at Freedom in Soho, considered where we’d like to eat.

We were literally next door to a new (new to us) restaurant called Jackson & Rye on Wardour Street. Hunger overtook any other plans and we dashed next door in the hope they had a table for us.

They did! We received a very cheery welcome and great service throughout our meal.

I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that they served the best chicken I’ve thad his year. And let’s not forget just how much food I consumed in South Beach in March… Delicious buttermilk fried chicken breasts, sweet potato fries and a very, very more-ish and slightly spicy coleslaw.

That would be enough for most normal humans, but I added a side of Mac & Cheese for reasons that only made sense to my hunger-addled brain at the time. It was a superb combination and, to be fair, @FrankDJS helped me finish the pasta…

@Nutchild had the ribs and I was extremely jealous of the very natty bib they expertly tied around him before he started munching.

Dinner for three, including drinks, was less than £65 – a veritable steal in London!

I’ll definitely be back to try more of their tempting menu.

I’m afraid that were were all so hungry that, by the time the food arrived, we all descended on the plates like ravenous beasts. But take my word for it: everything looked and tasted fabulous. Or have a look at their own gallery and see what I’m talking about.
