The end of X-Factor

Sad to read about the impending end of the present X-Factor series. Although writer Peter David suffered a stroke at the end of last year, the end of this series has apparently been planned for some time.

I’ve always been a fan of the current series, as it features a really oddball collection of characters. And Peter David has taken them off at a tangent from all of the other X-Books in the Marvel stable, with only infrequent incursions into crossovers and major events.

David is an excellent storyteller, so I’m looking forward to seeing how he ties up all the loose ends from this series. I also hope that my favourites are picked up by other writers and that this isn’t the last we see of Jamie Madrox, Shatterstar and Rictor.

With Havok now over at the (Uncanny) Avengers Mansion, will his (ever so slightly unstable) ex-girlfriend Polaris join him there? It would be fitting, as her sister (until it was retconned) the Scarlet Witch is in residence…and not enjoying the presence of X-Men about the place.

There’s also news that Peter David has a new series in the works with Marvel. Very much looking forward to finding out more about this.
