Race Report: Reading Half-Marathon 2012

A long, mostly flat course across Reading. It’s really not the prettiest of places (sorry, people of Reading) but it has some magnificently long, flat streets. Although I hit a wall of sorts (metaphorical, not literal) during the final 5km, I managed to finish without injury.

There was a fantastic atmosphere along the route and lots of locals came out onto the streets to cheer us along. It stayed dry and even the sun popped out from time to time along the way. We were definitely lucky with the weather.

I finished in a rather sweaty heap at 1:55, quite a bit down from my first half-marathon, the Royal Parks foundation run a few months ago. Running into the Madejski Stadium was a little surreal – loads of spectators cheering everyone on. It definitely put a spring in my step.

Run time: 1:55

Pace: 5’21” per km
