My new addiction

Surprise surprise – it’s not a gadget or anything vaguely technical. I have to admit, I’m pretty ashamed of it… I’ve been watching Coronation Street all this week. I haven’t watched it regularly since… ever. I’ver never been a fan. And I don’t think I’m a fan now, more of rubber-necked gawker watching disaster unfold.

The show’s been running continuously for 50 years now, so they’re having a massive all-week blowout now to celebrate. And I use the word intentionally. The highlight of this week’s episodes has been a combined building explosion / tram derailing. Half the cast has been blown up, crushed or generally thrown about. There was an attempted murder (she’s now in a coma), a hospital deathbed wedding, a marriage break-up, shock paternity reveal and tragic good-guy hero death.

No wonder I’m exhausted.

And Rita still hasn’t been rescued from her collapsed shop.

Now, through the wonders of the internet, you can share a few minutes of this non-stop (North of England) action. It’s mesmerising in its drama.

Never fear, I won’t be watching after this week. Honestly. I can stop any time I want.

Honestly.
